Heptonstall Festival Fell Race

The Heptonstall Festival Fell Race is scheduled for Saturday 4 July 2026. The race starts in Weavers Square in the hilltop village of Heptonstall, West Yorkshire, and follows a loop that descends into a neighbouring valley, climbs to a nearby peak, and returns by a similar route, finishing with a steep uphill section.

The course distance is 9.5 km (5.9 miles) with about 496 metres (1627 feet) of ascent and is classified as Category A. The event is listed as PM with the course partially marked. The surface and terrain vary along the route and include cobbles, grassy fields, muddy slopes, rocky bridleway and open moorland, some sections of which are pathless. The route offers open views at points along the way.

Registration takes place at St. Thomas Church, Heptonstall. Entry on the day is £6. Parking is available in the field opposite Heptonstall School, HX7 7NX, with a suggested £1 donation. At the finish there is a complimentary pint provided for finishers and a free music festival takes place as part of the wider Heptonstall Festival.
