Hemingway 5K Sunset Run
The Hemingway 5K Sunset Run is a weekend of running, walking, paddleboard racing and related events held in Key West as part of Hemingway Days. The event is presented for its 37th year on July 25–26, 2026 and takes place at the Southernmost Point area. All in-person participants start and finish at the Southernmost Point buoy, with race registration and an awards beach party located outside the Southernmost Beach Cafe on Duval Street.
Event features include an in-person 5K run, an in-person 5K walk, a Virtual Run Anywhere 5K, a paddleboard race, and a Beach N’ Beer Mile on the beach. The Beach N’ Beer Mile is not timed, consists of four loops with four beers included on the bib, and includes a custom shirt and costume prizes awarded in categories such as Best Team Spirit, Best Dressed, and Least Dressed.
The awards beach party includes tastings of Papa’s Pilar Rum and Islamorada Beer, snacks, raffles and live entertainment. Paddleboard participants are required to have a personal flotation device during the race. Race results are posted on the event website and social media the evening of the race.
