Hemingway Sunset Run 5K
The Hemingway Sunset Run 5K is an annual athletic event held in Key West, Florida, as part of Hemingway Days. This multi-day festival commemorates the life and work of author Ernest Hemingway, who resided in the area during the 1930s. The 2026 edition marks the 37th year of the race, which takes place in the Conch Republic.
The event features several participation options:
- 5K Run: A 3.1 mile out and back course.
- 5K Walk: A 3.1 mile out and back course.
- Beach n Beer Mile: A mile-long event held on the sand.
- Virtual Run Anywhere 5K: A remote participation option.
Participants in the in-person 5K events start and finish at the Southernmost Point Buoy, located at the intersection of United and Duval Street. The course is flat and follows the coastline. Following the athletic competition, an afterparty is held on the beach for those involved. The event schedule spans two days, with the 5K races occurring on the first day and the mile event taking place the following morning.
The race environment is characterized by the local tropical climate, including heat and humidity. Registration is open to the public with set fees for both runners and walkers. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
