Event overview

The HOWUM 2026 is a 30 mile trail ultramarathon taking place on 2 May 2026. The circular route starts and finishes in Llanidloes and follows sections of the Sarn, Glyndwr’s Way, Severn Way and Wye Valley Walk. The route passes the Clywedog Reservoir and reaches the source of the River Severn.

Route details and logistics

There are no official time limits for the event. The route includes three fully manned checkpoints stocked with snacks, fresh fruit, hot and cold drinks, seating, power banks and music; participants are asked to include any dietary requirements when registering. The event publishes a kit list that recommends appropriate footwear, a 1 litre water carrier, mobile phone, compass (or phone compass), headlamp or other light source, foil blanket, waterproof jacket and a rucksack. Entry includes a Pegasus medal, post-race care, access to the staffed checkpoints and support from Pegasus crew members. Registered entrants receive a welcome email, then further emails at six, four and two weeks before the event, plus a phone call a few days prior for final pre-event checks.
