Rhayader Round the Lakes
The Rhayader Round the Lakes event features two road races based in Rhayader, Powys, situated in the heart of Wales. This event has been organized by volunteers for over 40 years and contributes to the local economy of the town and the surrounding area. The races take place in the Elan Valley, utilizing a course that passes through the local countryside.
Participants can choose between two distinct distances:
- 30 km: A road race through the Elan Valley countryside with sections exposed to the weather on higher ground.
- 10 km: A route that travels from the town out to the Elan Valley and back.
The courses use public roads which remain open to traffic during the event. Participants are required to collect their timing chips and race numbers from the Rhayader Leisure Centre. Collection times are available on the Friday evening preceding the event or on the morning of the race.
Registration for the event follows specific deadlines for entries and transfers, usually closing several weeks before the race date. The event policy states that there are no refunds or deferrals available for registered runners. The 30 km race involves navigation through scenic landscapes and varied elevations within the British Isles. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
