Hayfield May Queen
The Hayfield May Queen fell race is a village event held in mid May as part of the Hayfield May Queen festivities. The course runs from the Scout Hut (grid reference SK035872) and includes the summit of Lantern Pike, covering roughly 3 miles with about 700 ft of climb.
The race is organised under Fell Runners Association rules. Juniors aged 12 and over may enter the senior race under those rules; there is no separate race for children under 12. Runners under 18 on race day must either be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian or provide a completed parental consent form from the Fell Runners Association.
Entry is available on the day only. Entry fees are modest with seniors charged £5 and juniors aged 12 to 18 charged £1. The event is described as a village fell race and uses local registration and start facilities at the Scout Hut. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
