Do the Haven Hustle 5K
Do the Haven Hustle 5K is a fundraiser that benefits Haven Homes of Texarkana, a faith-based non-profit serving men and women in the Texarkana/Four States area who face drug abuse, alcoholism, and addiction. Haven Homes provides safe housing, work and service programs, counseling, and spiritual guidance, and operates a transitional home for women, 12 to 18 month recovery centers for men and women, and sober-living homes for program graduates.
The event weekend includes a packet pickup day at the Perot Theatre, 221 Main Street, Texarkana, TX, followed by the 5K run that starts and finishes at the Perot Theatre in downtown Texarkana. Registration details listed by the organizer note an early fee of $35 that includes a T-shirt and a late fee of $45; registration opens May 3 and closes September 17. A light continental breakfast is provided at the start and finish station, and awards are presented for each category.
The race course is a 3.1 mile route through historic downtown Texarkana. The course passes local landmarks including the Perot Theatre, the Ace of Clubs House, First United Methodist Church stained glass, the railyard, the Stateline Federal Building and Post Office, Hotel Grim, Silvermoon on Broad, City Hall, war memorials, the Arts Park, and several local murals.
