HAUNTED Salt Lake City Half Marathon, 5K & Kids Run
The event comprises three races in Salt Lake City that finish at Sugar House Park and include a downhill half marathon start in Emigration Canyon at Little Mountain Summit. The half marathon runs 13.1 miles down Emigration Canyon through the Spook Alley tunnel and past themed features before finishing under a large inflatable pumpkin arch. The 5K is an out-and-back course around the park. The Kids Run is a half-mile route that passes through Spook Alley to a festive finish.
Distances
- 13.1 miles Half Marathon
- 5K out-and-back around Sugar House Park
- 0.5 mile Kids Run through Spook Alley
Packet pickup is scheduled the day before the races; the pickup location will be announced. A photo ID is required to collect a packet, and morning-of pickup is available for a fee. Bibs for the half are also available at the bus loading location; bibs for the 5K and Kids Run and post-race shirts are available at the event info tent.
Race day logistics include designated parking at Highland High School and bus transportation to the half marathon start; self-transportation to the start is not permitted and missing scheduled transport may forfeit a participant’s entry. A bag drop is provided at the half marathon start and bags are picked up at the finish. Organizers ask that only nonvaluables be placed in drop bags.
Aid stations on the half are positioned at Miles 3, 5, 7, 9, and 11 and offer Re-Lyte and water, with GU provided at Miles 5 and 9. The 5K has an aid station at Mile 2 offering Re-Lyte and water. Course clothing may be discarded only at the start, at Mile 2, or at aid stations in designated donation bins.
Timing uses chips attached to bibs; overall winners are determined by gun time and age group awards by chip time. Free race photos are provided, live tracking is available via the RaceJoy app, and Run Your Race pacers will be present. The finish area includes finisher medals, post-race food and drinks, photographers, vendor booths, and award presentations. A costume contest at the start will recognize best male, female, and group costumes, with prizes that include a free entry for next year.
