Harvest Moon Run
The Harvest Moon Run is a nighttime 5K run and walk held in Eureka, Missouri, through Historic Route 66 State Park. The event is a glow run along a paved, mostly flat course with pathlighters illuminating the route to a moonlit finish. Five kilometer participants receive an Energizer headlight.
Packet pickup provides the event long-sleeved signature T-shirt, headlight, and bib; pickup is available the day before at The Timbers of Eureka Recreation Center and on race day at Route 66 State Park.
Proceeds support the Harvest Moon Run Hunger Mission, which benefits the Eureka-Pacific Elks Lodge Weekend Backpack Food Program and nearby food pantries. The event operates a Fill a Ford with Food collection and asks attendees to bring canned or boxed food items; glass is not accepted. The organizer notes that 1 in 6 neighbors in the area struggle with food insecurity.
Event distances and youth races include:
- 5K run and walk
- Mini Moonie Dash 1/10 mile for ages 4 and under
- Moonie 1/2 Mile for ages 5 to 7
- Moonie Mile for ages 8 to 10
Kids 10 and under race for free. Medals are awarded to first place boy and girl winners in each youth age group. The event also features an Elks Lodge grill meal opportunity and live music from Eureka Music Center with an event MC. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
