About the race
The Doomsday 5K is a trail race presented by Terrain Trail Runners at Cliff Cave County Park, 806 Cliff Cave Rd, Saint Louis, MO 63129. The course covers roughly 5 kilometers with approximately 272 feet of elevation gain and combines short paved sections with an all-dirt trail loop.
The route begins a short distance past the train tracks, continues with about 0.5 mile on pavement, follows the Spring Valley Trail Outer Loop for about 1.8 miles, and returns on pavement for the final 0.5 mile. Spring Valley Trail is an all-dirt trail with rolling hills and some roots and rocks; it is described as beginner friendly.
Registration policies include an option for online registration and an on-site race day registration fee of $70, cash only. On-site registrants receive a custom Doomsday 5K pint or may swap for a shirt if sizes remain; all finishers receive a custom medal. Online registrants can choose a cotton t-shirt, a pint glass, or a tree-planting opt-out. Awards include $50 credit for top male, female, and non-binary performers toward future Terrain Trail Runners events.
The event follows a cup-free, zero waste pledge; participants are asked to bring their own mug and mess kit. The race supports inclusivity and partners with the Trail Mix Fund to help remove financial barriers to entry. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
