2026 Hark the Herald Half Marathon & 10K
The event on December 12, 2026 takes place at Angel Island State Park, Belvedere Tiburon, CA. The course is a hilly loop trail that circumnavigates Angel Island and offers panoramic views of the Golden Gate Bridge, San Francisco, Alcatraz Island, the East Bay, and Marin County. The field is limited to 400 participants. Race pricing includes the ferry fee and processing.
Distances:
- Half Marathon: two loops around Angel Island
- 10K: about 6.5 miles, single loop around the island
- Youth divisions for both Half Marathon and 10K
The course has a 3.5 hour cut-off time overall (listed paces apply); Half Marathon runners must complete the first loop within 1 hour 30 minutes. The course will be marked with orange ribbon where turns or trail crossings are required. There are no aid stations on the course; aid will be available before the second Half Marathon loop. Participants are strongly advised to carry water. Food and drink will be available at the finish.
Participant items and awards include T-shirts for all participants, medals for all Half Marathon finishers, and personalized award ribbons for the top three male and female finishers in each age group; ribbons will be mailed a few weeks after the race. Bib numbers will be mailed beginning two weeks before the event; unreceived bibs may be picked up on race morning. Headphones and other audio devices are not allowed because parts of the course use narrow trails with steep drop-offs.
Registrations are non-refundable and non-transferable. A rollover credit option is available under organizer terms if requested by the stated deadline. Parking is available in Tiburon lots for a daily fee. Special chartered ferries operate from the Tiburon ferry dock and athletes must use the chartered ferry to reach the race.
