Hark the Herald Half Marathon & 10K
The 38th annual Hark the Herald event takes place on December 12, 2026, at Angel Island State Park near Tiburon, California. The race is limited to 400 participants and race pricing includes the ferry fee and processing fee.
Distances
- Half Marathon - two loops of the Angel Island course
- 10K - single loop of the course, about 6.5 miles
- Half Marathon Youth - youth entry for the half marathon
- 10K Youth - youth entry for the 10K
The course is a hilly loop that circumnavigates Angel Island and offers panoramic views of the Golden Gate Bridge, San Francisco, Alcatraz Island, the East Bay, and Marin County. The course is marked with orange ribbon at trail crossings and turns. Course cut off time is 3.5 hours; half marathoners must complete the first loop within 1 hour 30 minutes. Hikers and walkers are permitted in the 10K.
There are no aid stations on the course; aid is available for half marathoners before the second loop. Participants are advised to carry water. Food and drink will be available at the finish.
Athletes must take a special chartered ferry from the Tiburon ferry dock to reach the island. Spectator ferry fees apply on race day and parking in Tiburon lots typically ranges from $5 to $20 per day. Registrations are non refundable and non transferable under the standard policy.
Event incentives include a participant T shirt, medals for all half marathon finishers, and personalized award ribbons mailed to top three finishers in each age group. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
