Hardmoors 26.2: White Horse
The Hardmoors 26.2: White Horse consists of three circular trail running events held at Sutton Bank near Thirsk, North Yorkshire. As part of a larger trail marathon series, these races take place within the North York Moors.
The event offers three distinct distances:
- Marathon: A 28-mile course for participants aged 18 and older.
- Half Marathon: A 17-mile course for participants aged 16 and older.
- Trail 10k: An 8-mile course with 1,600 feet of ascent for participants aged 10 and older.
The courses are not marked with tape or signs. Runners are responsible for their own navigation and must use the provided downloadable race route descriptions and maps. Specific time limits are enforced for each distance: 9 hours for the marathon, 6 hours for the half marathon, and 4 hours for the 10k. Competitors not reaching specific checkpoints within these limits will be retired from the race.
Mandatory safety equipment is required for all participants. Marathon and half marathon runners must carry a waterproof jacket, hat, gloves, 500ml of fluid, a survival bag, a foil blanket, and printed navigation materials. For the 10k, a survival bag, foil blanket, and printed navigation materials are required. This is a cupless event, and dogs are not permitted to participate.
The races start and finish at the Sutton Bank Visitor Centre, where finishers receive a medal. Foot sweepers follow all three distances for safety. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
