Event overview
The Hardmoors 26.2 White Horse Trail Marathon is a Hardmoors 26.2 Series event at Sutton Bank Visitor Centre, near Thirsk in North Yorkshire. It is scheduled for Sunday 10 May 2026 and has a maximum entry of 250. The event includes circular courses for a marathon, a half marathon and a trail 10k. Age minimums are: marathon 18 years, half marathon 16 years, 10k 10 years.
Course, entry and rules
Distances and ascent are published for each distance:
- Marathon: 28–29 miles; ascent around 3,400 ft
- Half marathon: 16.5–17 miles; ascent around 1,900 ft
- 10k: 8 miles; ascent around 1,600 ft
Time limits are: 9 hours for the marathon, 6 hours for the half and 4 hours for the 10k. Courses are not taped or signed; competitors must download, print and carry the route description and maps. GPX files are provided. Mandatory kit must be carried throughout the event (items differ by distance and include a printed map, survival bag and foil blanket; waterproof and fluid capacity are required for marathon and half). The event is cupless - participants should bring a cup. Dogs are not allowed. Entry fees include a small donation to the Cleveland Way National Trail and optional event T-shirts are available. Entries open in July 2025 and close in mid-April 2026. Prize categories cover overall and veteran places, plus a non-binary category where entries permit.
