Event details
The Hardmoors 26.2 White Horse Trail event takes place on Sunday 10 May 2026 at Sutton Bank Visitor Centre, near Thirsk, North Yorkshire. The event offers three circular trail courses:
- Marathon (about 28 miles)
- Half Marathon (about 16.5–17 miles)
- Trail 10k (about 8 miles)
Course ascent is listed as approximately 3400 ft for the marathon, 1900 ft for the half, and 1600 ft for the 10k. The field is limited (250 places), and entries open in July 2025 with general entries available the week after voucher-holder access. Entries close in mid-April 2026. Age limits apply: Marathon 18+, Half Marathon 16+, 10k 10+. Entry fees are shown per distance with separate attached/unattached rates; an optional event t-shirt is available.
Competition, navigation and rules
The courses are not fully marked. Competitors must download and carry route descriptions, maps or GPX files and are responsible for their own navigation. The event is cupless; runners should bring a personal cup for checkpoints and finish drinks. Mandatory kit must be carried for the duration of each race and differs by distance; required items include printed map/route description, survival bag and foil blanket for all races, with waterproof, hat, gloves and 500 ml fluid capacity additionally required for marathon and half. Failure to carry mandatory kit may result in disqualification. Time limits are 9 hours (marathon), 6 hours (half) and 4 hours (10k). Dogs are not allowed. Prize categories include overall male/female top three, veteran categories and a non-binary category where conditions are met. Foot sweepers and checkpoint procedures are in place.
