Hardmoors 26.2: White Horse
This event is held at Sutton Bank Visitor Centre near Thirsk, North Yorkshire, and is part of the Hardmoors 26.2 Series of six trail marathons across the North York Moors and the Cleveland Heritage Coastline. The races use circular routes that start and finish at Sutton Bank.
Distances offered:
- Trail Marathon: 28 miles
- Trail Half Marathon: 17 miles
- Trail 10k: 8 miles (1600 feet ascent)
Courses are not taped or signed for navigation. Competitors receive downloadable route descriptions and maps and are responsible for navigating the course. There will be foot sweepers on all three distances. Time limits apply: 9 hours for the marathon, 6 hours for the half marathon, and 4 hours for the 10k; competitors who do not meet cutoffs may be retired at checkpoints.
Mandatory kit must be carried throughout the race. Marathon and half marathon runners must carry items including a waterproof jacket, hat and gloves, printed route description and map, capacity to carry 500 ml fluid, a survival bag and a foil blanket, plus means to attach a race number. The 10k has a shorter mandatory kit list but requires a printed route description, survival bag and foil blanket.
No plastic cups are provided at checkpoints, and dogs are not allowed in the event. An optional event T-shirt is available for purchase. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
