Hardmoors 26.2: White Horse
Hardmoors 26.2: White Horse is a set of circular trail races based at Sutton Bank Visitor Centre near Thirsk in North Yorkshire. The event is part of the Hardmoors 26.2 Series of six trail marathons held across the North York Moors and the Cleveland Heritage Coastline.
Races offered:
- Trail Marathon - 28 miles
- Trail Half Marathon - 17 miles
- Trail 10k - 8 miles (1600 feet)
Courses are not taped or signed for navigation. Competitors are provided with downloadable route descriptions and maps and must navigate themselves throughout the course. Foot sweepers will run the routes and competitors who do not meet time cutoffs will be retired at strategic checkpoints.
Mandatory kit must be carried at all times; failure to carry required items may result in disqualification. Required items for marathon and half marathon include a waterproof jacket, hat and gloves, printed route description and map, capacity to carry 500 ml fluid, survival bag, foil blanket, and means to attach a race number. The 10k requires a printed route description and map, survival bag, foil blanket, and means to attach a race number. Plastic cups are not provided at checkpoints so competitors should bring their own. Dogs are not permitted to run in the events.
On finishing, race numbers are recorded manually and finishers receive a race medal. Prize ceremonies are held for each distance. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
