Hardmoors 26.2 White Horse Trail Races, Sutton Bank
Hardmoors 26.2 White Horse is a set of circular trail races based at Sutton Bank Visitor Centre near Thirsk, North Yorkshire. The event offers three mapped routes on off road terrain. Competitors are responsible for their own navigation; courses are not taped or signed except in very limited locations.
- Trail Marathon, 28 miles, 3400 feet ascent
- Trail Half Marathon, 17 miles, 1900 feet ascent
- Trail 10k, 8 miles, 1600 feet ascent
Mandatory kit must be carried for each distance and failure to do so will result in disqualification. Key items include a printed route description and map, a survival bag, a foil blanket, and means to attach the race number. Marathon and half marathon entrants must also carry a waterproof jacket, hat and gloves, and capacity to carry 500 ml of fluid. The event operates as a cupless race; competitors should bring their own cup for checkpoint drinks.
Time limits and cutoffs apply: nine hours for the marathon, six hours for the half marathon and four hours for the 10k. Foot sweepers will monitor the courses and competitors who are not meeting cutoffs may be retired at checkpoints. Prize categories include overall and age group awards for male, female and non binary runners. Entry fees vary by distance and attached status, and a T shirt is available for an additional fee.
