Hardmoors 26.2: White Horse

The Hardmoors 26.2: White Horse is a trail running event held at Sutton Bank near Thirsk, North Yorkshire. As part of a series of trail marathons located across the North York Moors and the Cleveland Heritage Coastline, this event features circular routes that start and finish at the Sutton Bank Visitor Centre.

Participants can choose from three distinct distances:

  • Trail Marathon: Approximately 28 miles.
  • Trail Half Marathon: Approximately 17 miles.
  • Trail 10k: Approximately 8 miles with 1600 feet of ascent.

The courses are not marked with tape or signs. Competitors must navigate themselves using provided downloadable maps and route descriptions. Mandatory kit requirements apply to all runners, with specific items such as a survival bag and foil blanket required for all distances, while the longer routes also require waterproof jackets and thermal accessories.

A self-sufficiency policy is in place regarding hydration, as the organizers do not provide plastic cups at checkpoints. The event enforces a no-dog policy for participants. Time limits are established for safety, with nine hours for the marathon, six hours for the half marathon, and four hours for the 10k. Runners who do not reach specific checkpoints within designated windows will be retired from the course.

The event includes foot sweepers for all distances and a medal for all finishers upon completion. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
