Race Information
The Knaresborough Crag Rat Run is a 5 mile mixed terrain event located in Knaresborough, North Yorkshire. The route follows the southern fringes of the town and encircles the River Nidd. The course is undulating and consists of a single lap that utilizes a variety of surfaces. Approximately half of the race is held on tarmac, while the remainder includes woodland trails and crag descents and ascents.
The race begins at the Knaresborough Cricket Club. Runners travel along trails down the crag to a tarmaced section by the River Nidd, followed by a woodland trail and a second tarmaced stretch. After crossing the bridge near the Petrifying Well, participants follow another riverside section before returning up the crag toward the finish line.
The event site at the Knaresborough Cricket Club serves as the race headquarters and provides several facilities for participants:
- Toilets
- Changing facilities
- Baggage store
- Water stations
- Distance markers
The race uses race numbers with embedded timing chips for results. Finishers receive a medal and a goody bag. Refreshments including tea, coffee, and cakes are available for cash donations, with proceeds going to Dementia Forward. Registration is open to both affiliated and unaffiliated runners aged 16 and over, with an entry limit of 250 participants. The course is not suitable for wheelchairs and there are no shower facilities on site. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
