Hardmoors 26.2 Saltburn Trail Marathon
The event takes place on Sunday 7 February 2027 at Huntcliff Secondary School, Marske Mill Lane, Saltburn-by-the-Sea TS12 1HJ. It is organised under an ARC permit (27/0010) and has a maximum field of 330 entrants.
Distances offered:
- 28 miles (Marathon)
- 14.5 miles (Half Marathon)
- 7.5 miles (10k)
Ascent and time limits are published per distance: the marathon shows about 4000 ft ascent with a 9 hour limit, the half about 2200 ft with a 5 hour limit, and the 10k about 1030 ft with a 3 hour limit. There is a checkpoint cut off on the marathon route where runners who miss the cut off are directed onto the half marathon route.
Mandatory kit is required for all distances and includes a waterproof jacket with taped seams, hat, gloves, survival bag or foil blanket, spare long sleeve base layer, printed route description and printed route map, safety pins or race belt, and a headtorch which is mandatory for the marathon. Marathon runners must carry 500 ml of water or sports drink. Failure to carry mandatory kit for the duration of the event may result in disqualification.
The course is not fully marked so competitors must download, print and carry route descriptions and maps; GPX files are available. Entry opens in April 2026 with general entries opening 26 April 2026 and entries close on 15 January 2027. Prices include a small donation to the Cleveland Way National Trail and vary by distance and affiliation, with an optional race t shirt available for purchase.
