About the race
Hardmoors 26.2 Saltburn Trail Marathon is held on Sunday 7 February 2027 at Huntcliff Secondary School, Marske Mill Lane, Saltburn-by-the-Sea TS12 1HJ. The event has a field limit of 330 entries and offers three distances with published ascent figures and time limits.
- 28 miles - 4000 ft ascent, 9 hour limit
- 14.5 miles - 2200 ft ascent, 5 hour limit
- 7.5 miles - 1030 ft ascent, 3 hour limit
All competitors must carry mandatory kit for the duration of their race. Required items include a waterproof jacket with taped seams, hat, gloves, survival bag or foil blanket, spare long-sleeved base layer, printed route description and printed route map, safety pins or race belt, and specific requirements for the marathon such as a headtorch and at least 500 ml of water or sports drink. Failure to carry mandatory kit will result in disqualification.
Courses are not fully marked; organisers provide downloadable maps, route descriptions and GPX files which competitors must print and use for navigation. There is a checkpoint cut-off on the marathon course at Trout Hall Lane; competitors who miss this checkpoint will be directed onto the half marathon route.
Entry fees start from £31 and vary by distance and UKA status. Entries open in April 2026 for voucher holders and general entries, and close on 15 January 2027. The event operates as a cupless race and does not allow dogs. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
