Hamilton Island Triathlon
The Hamilton Island Triathlon takes place in the Whitsunday Islands, situated near the Great Barrier Reef. The event features a sprint distance course that utilizes the island's natural landscape and infrastructure.
The competition consists of three distinct legs:
- 750m swim in Catseye Bay
- 20km three-loop cycle course covering the southern part of the island and the airport runway
- 5km one-loop run encompassing the marina and resort sides of the island
Participants can enter as individual competitors or as part of a two or three-person team. The event is open to the general public with no qualification requirements. Individual participants must be at least 14 years old, while team members must be at least 12 years old.
The weekend also includes a Junior Hamilton Island Triathlon for children aged 14 and under. The junior event offers varied distances based on ability:
- Short Race: 50m swim, 1km bike, and 500m run
- Medium Race: 150m swim, 3km bike, and 1km run
- Long Race: 250m swim, 5km bike, and 2km run
A "Splash'n Dash" option is also available for children who prefer to compete without a bicycle. All competitors must attend a compulsory race briefing and register in person prior to the race. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
