Hamilton Island Triathlon
The Hamilton Island Triathlon is a sprint triathlon held on Hamilton Island in the Great Barrier Reef region on Saturday 21 November 2026. The event comprises a 750 metre swim in Catseye Bay, a 20 km bike on a three-loop course that includes the airport runway, and a 5 km run around the marina and resort sides of the island.
The race is open to individual competitors and teams with the following entry fees for 2026: $155 per individual, $190 for a two-person team, and $225 for a three-person team. Individual competitors must be at least 14 years old as at 14 November 2026; team competitors must be at least 12 years old as at that date. Online entries close Friday 13 November 2026 and places are limited.
Race categories include Open, Age Group (multiple age brackets for men and women), and Team categories (male, female, mixed). Non-drafting rules apply on the bike course and wetsuits are permitted for the swim. Results and presentations are held at the Beach Pavilion after the race.
The event weekend also features a Junior Hamilton Island Triathlon with several race distances and a Splash'n Dash format for children aged 4–14 years. Volunteer roles are available for the weekend and a safety plan is in place for marine stingers, with stinger suits and wetsuits permitted.
