About the race
Great Whitehaven Beach Run is staged on Whitehaven Beach in the Whitsundays, near Hamilton Island. Participants can tackle a half marathon (21.1km), 10km, 5km, or junior distances of 1.5km and 500m. The beach-course invites a true sand-running experience in a spectacular tropical setting, with shoes optional.
Races are offered in Individual Open and Individual Age Group categories, with awards for top finishers. The event fosters a family-friendly atmosphere, including junior events and pre-race activities. All competitors receive included chartered ferry transfers to Whitehaven Beach as part of registration, linking Airlie Beach and Hamilton Island.
