Great Whitehaven Beach Run : event overview
The Great Whitehaven Beach Run is a beach running event held on Whitehaven Beach in the Whitsundays. The event is scheduled for 22 June 2025. Distances on offer include adult and junior races held along the beach course. Race kit collection is arranged the day before for competitors based on Hamilton Island and on the morning of the event for those travelling from Airlie Beach, with race packs provided at Whitehaven Beach.
Format, entry and logistics
- 21.1 km half marathon
- 10 km run
- 5 km run
- 1.5 km junior run
- 500 m junior run
Entry fees are listed per distance: adult distances are priced at $150, junior distances at $65, and a spectator ticket at $75. Minimum ages apply: 16 for the 21.1 km, 12 for the 10 km, 8 for the 5 km, and juniors must be 15 years or younger for the 1.5 km and 500 m. Categories include an Individual Open (no qualification required; open prizes for top three) and Individual Age Group awards (age as at 22 June 2025). Junior distances receive finisher medals only.
Transfers to and from Whitehaven Beach are included in competitor registration; spectator ferry tickets must be purchased with a competitor registration or added before entries close if availability permits. The course is a beach run; shoes are optional. Shortcuts result in disqualification, and the use of a single earphone is permitted. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
