Hamilton Island Hilly Half Marathon
The Hamilton Island Hilly Half Marathon is a trail running event on Hamilton Island in the Great Barrier Reef region. The principal course follows a rugged route of roughly 24km that uses fire trails and walking tracks through the island’s undulating interior, with sustained uphill and downhill sections.
The event is offered in several formats and includes options for younger runners. Distances include:
- Full length individual course approximately 24km
- Junior option 3km
- Junior option 1.5km
- Junior option 500m
Entries close on 24 April 2026. General entry fees and minimum ages are published for each entry type: individual, team relay and junior entries. Individual entry, team entry fees per member, and junior pricing are specified by the organiser. Individual competitors must be at least 16 years old; team competitors must be at least 14 years old; junior competitors must be aged 4 to 15 years.
Categories include open individual, age group divisions, and open relay divisions for male, female and mixed teams. Race pack collection takes place at the Beach Pavilion over the race weekend and is compulsory; photo identification is required at collection. Competitors are advised to ensure they are sufficiently trained and medically fit to complete the course. One earphone only is permitted for mp3 use during the event. Cruise Whitsundays transfers are offered for competitors, and prize details will be announced at the event. Medal presentations will be held at the Beach Pavilion on race day.
