Event overview
The Tassal AB Marathon Festival is the 13th annual running festival to be held on 18 and 19 July 2026 in Airlie Beach, Queensland, Australia. The event is a member of the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS). The main marathon course and the 21.1 km, 10 km and 5 km courses have been formally measured by a B grade measurer, so performances on those courses can be recognised for records. The full marathon is titled the Tassal North Queensland Championship Marathon and is run as four laps on off-road surfaces that are actually concrete footpaths and boardwalks.
Races and courses
- 42.2 km (marathon) - four laps on concrete footpaths and boardwalks.
- 21.1 km (half marathon) - two laps around the foreshore.
- 10 km - one lap around the Airlie Beach and Cannonvale foreshore.
- 5 km - two laps around the Airlie Beach foreshore and Port of Airlie.
- 2 km - junior dash, two laps around the Airlie Beach foreshore.
- 1 km - kids run/walk, one lap around the Airlie Beach foreshore.
- 1 mile - McDonald’s Magic Mile held the day before the main event.
- Mixed relay - teams of three, minimum one female per team; each member runs 1 km.
The festival program includes youth and corporate events and multiple lap formats to allow supporters to see competitors several times at the same location.
Location and access
The festival takes place in Airlie Beach, QLD 4802. The region is served by Proserpine - Whitsunday Coast, Hamilton Island and Mackay airports, and is on the Bruce Highway corridor between major cities.
