Hamden Hills Half Marathon & Flat 5K
The Hamden Hills event on May 23, 2026 takes place at the Railroad Canal Line parking area on the Farmington Heritage Canal Trail in Hamden, Connecticut. The event offers two distances:
- Half Marathon
- Flat 5K on the Rail Trail
The Half Marathon course includes rail trail sections for the first two and last two miles and is USATF measured. Roads remain open to traffic; police and course volunteers staff intersections. The 5K is entirely on the rail trail, described as flat with no vehicle traffic on course.
Aid stations are located at miles 2.5, 4.5, 6.5, 8.5 and 10.5 and are stocked with Poland Spring water and Gatorade Endurance. Porta lets are provided at the start and finish and near miles 4.5 and 8.5. Timing uses transponder chip timing with both gun and net times recorded; awards are based on gun time and live, email and text results are provided. Free downloadable finish line photos and finisher certificates are available from EliteFeats.
Entrants receive men's and women's cut short sleeve tech shirts. Half Marathon finishers choose between two finisher medal designs. Finish line refreshments include water, Gatorade, bagels and bananas. Awards are given to the top three men and women overall and in five year age divisions from 15 through 80 plus.
Registration rules note a Half Marathon time cutoff of 3 hours 30 minutes and an official early start option for those targeting a 2 hour 30 minute to 3 hour 30 minute finish; early starts are restricted and may result in disqualification if used improperly. Transfers or deferrals are allowed only until April 23, 2026 for a fee. There are no refunds. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
