Hamden Hills Half Marathon & Flat 5K
Hamden Hills Half Marathon & Flat 5K takes place in May in Hamden, Connecticut, using the Railroad Canal Line main parking lot at 270 Sherman Ave. The event includes both a half marathon and a 5K, and courses use the local rail-trail and town roads.
Distances
- Half Marathon USATF measured; first and last 2 miles on the rail-trail.
- 5K 100% on the rail-trail for a flat finish; no cars.
The half marathon runs through the backcountry of Hamden with rail-trail sections at the start and finish. Roads along the course remain open to traffic; police staff intersections and volunteers are stationed on the route. Aid stations are located at miles 2.5, 4.5, 6.5, 8.5 and 10.5 and are stocked with Poland Spring Water and Gatorade Endurance. Porta-potties are provided at the start/finish and at miles 4.5 and 8.5.
Amenities listed for entrants include men's and women's cut short sleeve tech T-shirts, custom finisher medals for half marathon finishers, finish-line food and drink such as water, Gatorade, bagels and bananas, live and same-day results, and free finish-line photos and video. Awards are custom pint pilsner glass trophies for top three male and female overall and top three in multiple age groups from 10-14 through 80 plus.
Registration is not yet open and will open prior to the event. Plenty of parking is available in Rail Trail lots and on-street where legal; parking is not allowed in the Dunkin Donuts / Amity Liquors lot. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
