Events
The Hamburg Half Marathon is a running event in Hamburg, Pennsylvania. It includes two distances: a half marathon and a 5k.
The Course
Both races are out-and-back courses on the Schuylkill River Trail (SRT), starting at Hamburg Community Park on Franklin Street & N 2nd St. The half marathon route runs towards the Auburn Bridge and back, passing views of Stony Creek, a train station, and crossing the Appalachian Trail. The trail is flat and shaded.
The 5k course also follows the SRT towards Port Clinton. The trail can be muddy if there has been precipitation the week prior.
On-Site Details
Parking is available at Hamburg Community Park, which has facilities including bathrooms near the start and finish area. Portapotties are located at the start/finish and at the 1.5-mile aid station.
There are aid stations along the courses. The 5k has one aid station. The half marathon has two, located approximately at miles 1.5 and 3.75 (and again on the return). The half marathon has a time limit of 3.5 hours.
Participant Perks
All participants receive a long-sleeved tech shirt (deadline to guarantee a shirt is June 1). Free hot breakfast items are provided after the race. At the finish line, cold ice water is served in reusable plastic cups.
