Event Overview
The Halswell Quarry Orienteering event takes place at Halswell Quarry, utilizing a map of the local terrain. The event offers five distinct courses categorized by navigation difficulty and length to accommodate different experience levels. Participants navigate through the landscape using Sportident electronic timing, with Air mode enabled for those using compatible devices. Standard SI sticks are also available for hire for those who do not own their own equipment.
Course Options
Participants can choose from several routes based on their technical preference:
- White: Very easy navigation over a 1.5 km distance with minimal climb.
- Yellow: Easy navigation covering 1.8 km with minimal climb.
- Orange: Moderate navigation spanning 3.1 km with minimal climb.
- Short Red: Very hard navigation across 3.7 km with minimal climb.
- Medium Red: Very hard navigation with a length of 5 km and minimal climb.
Registration and Logistics
Pre-entries are managed through the EnterO system and typically open two weeks before the event. While pre-registration is preferred, limited entry on the day is available at non-member rates. For families or caregivers accompanying children, only the junior participants are required to register and pay. Payments are processed via credit or debit card during the entry process.
Location and Facilities
