About the race
The Sri Chinmoy Self-Transcendence Christmas Dash is a seasonal event held in South Hagley Park, Christchurch. The event offers two race options and uses laps around the park for each distance. The 10 km race consists of three laps in South Hagley Park and the kids race is one lap of 3.2 km.
The 10 km start and finish are located about 400 m from the registration area; the kids start and finish at the registration picnic area on Deans Ave, opposite Freyberg Ave. Facilities on the course include one aid station providing water and Pure electrolyte drink. Public toilets are available near the rugby fields south of the registration area and across the road in North Hagley Park. The park remains open to the public during the event.
Parents or caregivers may accompany children in the 3.2 km race at no extra charge. Entries are offered online until the Friday before the event and on-the-day entries are accepted for an additional fee until shortly before the race. Medals are awarded to the top three male and female finishers in each event. A post-race breakfast is provided free for participants; supporters may purchase breakfast for a fee.
