Event details
The Halifax Urban Trail is scheduled for Monday 6 April 2026. It is the inaugural edition and is billed as a trail race of just over 10K. The event starts at Shibden Hall in Halifax. Minimum age to enter is 18 or older. Entries open 2 October 2025 and close 1 April 2026. Entry fees are £23 for UKA members and £25 for non-members. The entry list shows 218 participants so far. Entry is managed through the SiEntries online system.
Route, access and charity
The route follows tracks and paths from Shibden Hall to Beacon Hill, then descends into the town and passes through several landmark buildings. Runners will pass through Halifax Minster, the Piece Hall, the Borough Market, the Dean Clough complex and Halifax Town Hall, including its Council Chamber. Several places on the route are not normally open to the public. The event is held in aid of the Calderdale hospice Overgate, which is fundraising for a new building project.
Withdrawal and cancellation
If a competitor withdraws, organisers ask to be informed by email so the place can be offered to another runner; withdrawn entrants may be offered a place in the 2027 event or the option to donate their entry to Overgate Hospice. In the event of cancellation entrants may be offered a place in the following year, the option to donate the fee to Overgate Hospice, or a refund. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
