Event details
The Halifax Urban Trail is scheduled for 6 April 2026 and is described as the inaugural edition. The event starts at Shibden Hall in Halifax. The race is a trail event of just over 10K and has a minimum entry age of 18. The event supports the Calderdale hospice Overgate and is fundraising for its new building project.
Route and places
The route goes from Shibden Hall along tracks and paths to Beacon Hill, then descends into the town centre. The course includes running through several landmark buildings: Halifax Minster (Grade I listed), the Piece Hall, the Borough Market, the Dean Clough complex, and Halifax Town Hall, including access to the council chamber. Several places on the route are not normally open to the public.
Entries and policies
Entries open 2 October 2025 and close 1 April 2026. Entry fees listed are £23 for UKA members and £25 for non-members. The entry list shows 109 participants so far. If a runner withdraws they are asked to notify the organiser by email so the place can be offered to another runner; options include deferring a place to the following year, donating the entry fee to Overgate Hospice, or receiving a refund in the event of cancellation.
