Event information
The Viking 5K, 10K, & Half Marathon takes place on February 28, 2026, at James Martin Trail Park, 829 Old S 4th St, Gadsden, AL 35901. The event includes the following distances:
- 5K
- 10K
- Half Marathon
All runners must register on RunSignup. There is no on-site registration. Packet pickup opens 30 minutes before the race and closes 10 minutes before the race start. A contact form is available for questions.
Course and logistics
The courses run on a pea gravel trail behind the Gadsden Mall. The organizer notes a GPS may direct participants to a small building on Old S 4th Street; from there, go south on Old S 4th Street and turn right into the parking lot. Course layouts and loop lengths provided by the organizer:
- 5K and 10K use a base loop of 0.78 miles; the out-and-back configuration measures 1.56 miles. The 5K repeats the out-and-back two times; the 10K repeats it four times. A 15K variation repeats it six times.
- The Half Marathon uses a base loop of 1.09 miles; the out-and-back measures 3.18 miles and is repeated six times.
The course time limit is 3 hours and 30 minutes. The organizer lists finisher medals, a shirt and gear shop, best costume recognition, series points, and awards. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
