Event Overview
The US Road Running Williamsburg race series includes the Pie Gobbler event, which offers multiple distance options for participants. This event is hosted at Lois Hornsby Middle School and follows a designated out-and-back course structure. All participants are required to register through RunSignup prior to the event, as no on-site registration is available.
Distances and Course Information
The event features four specific race distances, each utilizing a multi-lap format on paved paths:
- 5K: A single out-and-back loop totaling 3.11 miles.
- 10K: Two laps of the out-and-back course.
- Half Marathon: Four laps of a 3.28-mile out-and-back course.
- Marathon: Eight laps of a 3.28-mile out-and-back course.
The overall time limit for all distances is six hours. Courses are mapped as out-and-back segments, where runners return to the start line to complete their required number of laps.
Logistics and Location
Parking for all participants is located at Lois Hornsby Middle School. After parking, runners follow the sidewalk to the middle school bus loop, where the race begins. Packet pickup is conducted on the morning of the race, beginning 30 minutes before the official start.
Awards and Recognition
Finisher medals are provided to all participants who complete their registered distance. While the event is part of a series that tracks points, it also features an unofficial costume contest. Participants are welcome but not required to wear costumes, and a group photo is taken at the start of the event to determine costume winners.
