Gulf Winds Summer Trail Series
The Gulf Winds Summer Trail Series is a four-race competition held on various paths throughout Tallahassee, Florida. The series features local trails with a mix of terrain including rolling hills, single-track paths, and multi-use trails. Participants encounter technical sections that include rocks, roots, and tight turns. Registration for the entire series is limited to 150 runners.
The series consists of four distinct events held at different locations:
- 5 miles at Oak Hammock Trail
- 5 miles at Redbug Trail
- 6 miles at Cadillac Trail
- 6 miles at Maclay Gardens State Park
Participants receive a single unisex short sleeve t-shirt for the entire series. Points are awarded based on finishing positions in each race, starting with 20 points for first place down to 1 point for ninth place and above. The final series standings are calculated using a runner's best three race results. If a tie occurs at the end of the series, the fastest overall time at the final event determines the winner.
The series uses a fixed race age based on the runner's age as of the first event date to maintain consistent age categories. While water stations may be positioned at the halfway point of each course, participants are encouraged to carry their own water bottles for hydration. New race bibs are provided for each individual event during the scheduled morning or evening check-in periods. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
