Groovin' in the Aspens - Fort Valley Trailhead, Flagstaff AZ
This event, resurrected and renamed by Bear Jaw Events from its previous title, is a trail running festival held at the Fort Valley Trailhead in Flagstaff. It uses local pine forest trails and a mix of single track and jeep roads across several distance options.
The available distances are:
- 6K
- 10K
- 20K
- 30K
- 50K
Course details note the 6K follows smooth, relatively flat green trails near the event expo area. The 10K combines single track and jeep road with 682 feet of elevation gain. The 20K is mostly single track with some jeep roads and about 900 feet of elevation gain. The 30K consists of one Black loop plus one Blue loop; the 50K is two Black loops plus one Blue loop. Aid stations will be located but will be no more than 7 miles apart.
Packet pickup is offered at Kickstand Kafe on the Friday before the event and also on race day at Fort Valley Trailhead. Registered participants receive a custom finisher's medal, a custom event t-shirt, and pre- and post-race snacks including granola bars, fruit, water, and Gatorade. Race-related items will not be mailed to participants who do not attend. The event welcomes wheelchairs, strollers, and wagons but notes some trail sections may be difficult to maneuver.
