Babbitts Backyard Ultra is a Last Person Standing running event held near SP Crater in Flagstaff, Arizona. The course uses a combination of dirt trails and road and features approximately 150 feet of elevation gain with views of the crater and the nearby Peaks. The set loop measures 4.167 miles and must be completed within each one-hour loop for it to count.
The event follows the backyard ultra format: every surviving runner completes the same loop each hour and must be back in the starting corral at the hour mark to begin the next loop. Each loop starts precisely one hour after the last and competitors receive a three-, two- and one-minute warning prior to each start. All competitors must start at the bell; late starts are not allowed. Except for restroom breaks, runners may not leave the course during a loop and no personal aid is permitted while on course.
Additional event details include water available throughout the race, a 10-by-10 foot space allocated to each runner near the start/finish, allowance of one crew member at a time per runner, and prohibition of non-competitors on the course. The winner is the last person to complete a loop; other entrants will receive results showing distance covered.
