Flagstaff Sky Peaks
Flagstaff Sky Peaks is a three day mountain trail event at Arizona Snowbowl in Flagstaff, AZ, held September 25 to September 27, 2026. The weekend includes multiple trail race formats and fixed-time events that reach alpine elevations up to about 11,500 ft.
The Friday Hill Climb is a steep ascent of roughly 1.4 miles that gains about 2,100 ft and finishes near the helipad above the Arizona Gondola; runners may return to the start by gondola. Saturday offers a range of distances and formats, with all races except the 5K beginning on an Agassiz Loop that climbs to the Snowbowl property high point near 11,500 ft. The 5K follows a lower Aspen loop through aspen groves and gentler ski slope terrain.
Saturday also includes fixed-time events of six and twelve hours that repeat the Agassiz Loop, and longer courses that travel portions of the Arizona Trail, forest roads, and singletrack with multiple aid stations noted along the route. Sunday features two mountain races: a Mountain 6K that climbs from and returns to Agassiz Lodge and a point to point Mountain 20K that starts at Fort Valley Trailhead, climbs from about 7,200 ft to near 11,500 ft, then descends to Agassiz Lodge with shuttle service provided for the start.
Additional notes: trekking poles are allowed and recommended for all distances; pacers are permitted in many of the longer events; aid stations and drop bag policies vary by race. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
