Montane Grizedale Forest Trail Half & Full Marathon
The Montane Grizedale Forest Trail Half & Full Marathon is a trail running event in Grizedale Forest, within the Lake District National Park, held on 7 February 2027. Two distances are offered:
- Half Marathon
- Marathon
The route follows forest tracks and natural trails through woodland and Lakeland landscapes, with sections of steady climbs and views across surrounding fells and countryside. The Half Marathon covers a shorter forest route with elevation suited to runners moving from road to trail events. The Marathon explores more of the forest and hills and includes longer sections between aid stations.
Entries include aid stations, course support, electronic timing, a custom finishers medal, online results, a fully signed route, and free photos and video. Runners must be 16 years or older on the day of the race and carry the items listed on the compulsory kit list in the Event Guidance Notes.
The event base is Grizedale Visitor Centre, LA22 0QJ; parking is available at the visitor centre. Due to limited daylight there are cut offs for the marathon: Trail 26 runners must be through Food Stop 2 (13 miles) within 3.5 hours and through Food Stop 3 (20.5 miles) by 2pm. The final course cut off for all distances is 7 hours 30 minutes from the start.
