Montane Grizedale Forest Trail (Trail 13 & Trail 26)
The event is staged from Grizedale Visitor Centre near Hawkshead in the Lake District, postcode LA22 0QJ. Two distances are offered:
- Trail 13: Half marathon, the first 13 miles of the marathon route on forest tracks.
- Trail 26: Full marathon, which continues with an eastern loop towards Windermere.
The course runs mainly on good forest tracks with varied terrain and some short road sections. The route is described as undulating and includes viewpoints across Coniston and surrounding areas. The half marathon finishes at Grizedale Visitor Centre; full marathon runners continue beyond the half route to complete the additional loop.
Entries have set fees and limits; the listed entry fees are £39 for the half marathon and £49 for the full marathon. Entries close when the event is full or on the Friday before the race at midday. Participants must be 16 years or older on race day and carry items on a compulsory kit list.
Services included with entry are a custom finisher's medal, water at the finish for the half, feedstations on the marathon route, electronic timing, and event photographs available to download from the official event photographer. There are time cut-offs for the marathon: runners must reach Food Stop 2 (13 miles) within 3.5 hours, reach Food Stop 3 (20.5 miles) by a further set point, and complete the course within 7 hours 30 minutes from the start.
