Montane Grizedale Forest Trail
The Montane Grizedale Trail runs from Grizedale Visitor Centre near Hawkshead in the Lake District (LA22 0QJ). The event offers two trail distances that follow primarily good forest tracks with varied terrain and some road sections. The route is described as undulating and includes views of Coniston and surrounding areas. The half marathon follows the first 13 miles of the marathon route; full marathon runners continue on an eastern loop toward Windermere.
Distances:
- 13 miles (half marathon)
- 26 miles (marathon)
Runners must be 16 years or over on race day and carry the items listed on the compulsory kit list. The marathon route includes feed stations; the half marathon has water available at the finish. Electronic timing is provided and a custom finisher’s medal is included with entry. Event photographs are available to download from the official photographer.
There are course cut offs: Trail 26 runners must pass Food Stop 2 (13 miles) within 3.5 hours of their start, and all distances have a final course cut off of 7 hours 30 minutes from the start. The organiser applies discounted entry rates for early entrants and general entry rates thereafter. Dogs are not permitted to take part in the race but may attend the start and finish as supporters.
