Beyond the Lune Skyline Ultra
Beyond the Lune Skyline Ultra is a loop trail event starting and finishing at The Barn in the centre of Kirkby Lonsdale. The route covers 65 km with about 2000 m of ascent and visits seven summits while passing notable local landmarks.
The course runs mostly on footpaths and bridleways, with only around 10 km on tarmac. The route includes technical terrain and a steep final section known as the Radical Steps before the return to The Barn. Participants must be able to self-navigate the whole loop using a map or GPS unit; a GPX file of the route is provided. There are two checkpoints with food and water available along the way.
Entry conditions include a minimum age of 18. An entry fee of £45 applies. Event entries may include merchandise, but availability is not guaranteed at the event.
Mandatory kit is checked at registration and includes a rucksack or race vest or bum bag, running or trail shoes, waterproof jacket with hood and taped seams, waterproof over-trousers with taped seams, warm hat, gloves or mitts, survival bag, map or GPS unit, compass, whistle, small first aid kit, water and food.
Event services listed for participants include a hot pastry and coffee at the start and a finisher beer and pizza at the finish. A cut-off time applies. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
