Beyond the Lune Summer Trails
Beyond the Lune Summer Trails is a trail running event based in Kirkby Lonsdale that offers two marked routes starting from The Barn in the town centre. Both routes combine on road and off road sections and are designed to showcase the local area around Casterton, Brownthwaite Pike also known as Bullpot, Devils Bridge and nearby river paths.
Distances available:
- 10 km / 6 mile route using local footpaths and bridleways
- 20 km / 12 mile route including fell road sections and a trig point with valley views
Runners receive a free pastry and a hot drink at the start and a finisher beer at the end, age dependant. Entrants are provided with a GPX file of the chosen route, part signage with marshalls, event merchandise and a seasonal Barny Box. The route is partially signed and requires participants to be able to self navigate; the 20 km route is explicitly noted as requiring self navigation.
Under 16s may take part if running with a parent or guardian. There is a cut off time of 1pm for all runs. Entry fees listed for the event are £25 for the 20 km and £20 for the 10 km. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
