Event overview
Beat The Bounds, Patterdale is an annual community event following the Patterdale parish boundary in Ullswater Valley. The event takes place on 4 July 2026 in Patterdale, Cumbria. It is organised by Patterdale PCC and supports Patterdale Church of England School and St Patrick's Church; entry fees are treated as donations split equally between those beneficiaries. Entries open 5 July 2025 and close 20 June 2026. There is a no-refund policy. A 100% discount is available for Patterdale Parish residents and a £5 discount applies for Long Distance Walking Association members on the full route.
Routes and logistics
Distances offered:
- Full Boundary - 28 miles, 10,200 ft ascent
- 1st Half - 16 miles, 6,500 ft ascent
- 2nd Half - 14 miles, 3,500 ft ascent
- Minibeat Downhill - 6 miles, downhill family/solo option
The event features checkpoint provisions including snacks, hot and cold drinks, and VOOM Nutrition bars and hydration. Bespoke maps will be available for purchase and GPX routes will be provided in advance. Participants receive a tracker for location monitoring and route checkpoints. Cut off points will be applied at Kirkstone Pass and Boredale Hause. Public transport options are available between Patterdale School and Kirkstone Pass for some starts.
