Beat The Bounds, Patterdale : 4 July 2026
Beat The Bounds is an outdoor event in Patterdale, Cumbria, following much of the parish boundary of Patterdale. The event is organised by Patterdale PCC and takes place on 4 July 2026. Entries open 5 July 2025 and close 20 June 2026. Entry fees vary by distance and include a tracker fitted to the pack, a bespoke race number, Kirkstone checkpoint food and drinks, and finishers' soup and cake. There is a no-refund policy; entry fees are treated as donations split equally between Patterdale C of E Primary School and St Patrick's Church, Patterdale.
Distances and entry fees
- Full Boundary - 28 miles, 10,200 ft ascent. Fee £42. Minimum age 18.
- 1st Half - 16 miles, 6,500 ft ascent. Fee £35. Minimum age 18.
- 2nd Half Boundary - 14 miles, 3,500 ft ascent. Fee listed. Minimum age 15 if accompanied by an adult or on a ratio of adults to minors.
- Family / Solo Minibeat (downhill) - 6 miles via Hartsop Hall. Family fee £10, solo £5. Children must be accompanied by adults as specified.
Route, logistics and safety
The full boundary route passes peaks and locations such as Raise, Helvellyn, Nethermost Pike, Dollywaggon Pike, Grisedale Tarn, Fairfield, Red Screes, Kirkstone Pass, High Street, Angle Tarn, and Place Fell. Checkpoint provision includes snacks and drinks with VOOM Nutrition products at Kirkstone Pass. Bespoke maps and GPX routes will be made available and participant information will be emailed before the event. Public transport is available between Patterdale School and Kirkstone Pass (subject to timetable). Cut-offs will be applied at Kirkstone Pass and Boredale Hause.
