Beat the Bounds, Patterdale is a longstanding 45-year tradition held in the Ullswater Valley, Cumbria, celebrating the parish boundary of Patterdale. The main event covers a challenging 28-mile route with approximately 10,300 feet of ascent, traversing notable peaks such as Helvellyn, Raise, and Fairfield. Participants navigate the actual parish boundary, requiring strong navigation skills, with bespoke maps provided.
The event also offers a 16-mile half route, a 14-mile second half, and a family-friendly 7-mile downhill walk. The atmosphere is community-focused, with checkpoints offering food and drinks, and the event supports local causes including Patterdale Church of England School.
