Event overview

The Grindleford Gallop is a one-day off-road event on Saturday 14 March 2026, based at Grindleford Pavilion (S32 2JN). The course covers approximately 34 km with about 825 m of ascent. The event is organised by volunteers and raises money for Grindleford Primary School.

Route and logistics

The fixed route links the villages of Grindleford, Froggatt, Eyam, Great Longstone, Edensor and Baslow, using paths, tracks and open moorland. Notable features on the route include Riley Graves, Longstone Moor, the Monsal Trail and Chatsworth Park estate, with a high-level section along the Baslow, Curbar and Froggatt edges. Important interchanges are marshalled and most control points are manned; other sections are only partially marked and some areas cannot be marked for landowner reasons. The organisers advise carrying a map; GPS or a route map on a watch is permitted. Shortcuts are not allowed.
