Event Details

The Grindleford Gallop takes place on Saturday 14th March 2026. It is a running event covering approximately 34 km with 825 m of ascent. The event starts and finishes at Grindleford Pavilion in the Peak District.

Course Description

The route passes through the villages of Grindleford, Froggatt, Eyam, Great Longstone, Edensor, and Baslow. It connects these using paths, tracks, and open moorland in the White Peak area. Notable landmarks include the Riley Graves, Longstone Moor, the Monsal Trail, and Chatsworth Park estate. The final section along Baslow, Curbar, and Froggatt edges provides views of the surrounding Peak District.

Event Organization

The race raises money for Grindleford Primary School and is organized entirely by volunteers. It is known for its friendly atmosphere and offers refreshments including cake. Participants must be 16 years or older to enter.

Route and Navigation

The course is marshalled at key interchanges, and most control points are staffed. However, the route is only partially marked, with some sections unmarked due to landowner preferences. Participants are advised to familiarize themselves with the course and carry a map or GPS device. The course is fixed, and shortcuts are not permitted.

Entry Information
