Event overview and route
The Grindleford Gallop is an annual running and walking event in the Peak District scheduled for Saturday 14th March 2026. The course covers approximately 21 miles (34 km) with about 825 m of ascent. The route links the villages of Grindleford, Froggatt, Eyam, Great Longstone, Edensor and Baslow using paths, tracks and open moorland of the White Peak. Notable features on the route include Riley Graves, Longstone Moor, the Monsal Trail and Chatsworth Park estate. The final high-level section runs along the Baslow, Curbar and Froggatt edges and offers wide views of the surrounding area.
The route is a fixed course and short cuts are not permitted. It is marshalled at important interchanges and most control points are manned, but some sections are only partially marked and some areas cannot be waymarked for landowner reasons. Participants are advised to familiarise themselves with the course and carry a map; use of GPS or a route on a watch is permitted.
Organisation, entries and rules
The event is run entirely by volunteers and raises funds for Grindleford Primary School, with additional donations to local organisations. The minimum entry age is 16 and the published entry fee is £27. Entries open on Tuesday 11th November 2025 and close on Friday 13th March 2026.
Refunds are possible up to two months before the event at 50% of the fee. Transfers are not allowed and deferrals are only considered for pregnancy. There is no waiting list; places become available only if entrants cancel. Checkpoints are staffed and have opening arrangements that entrants should respect. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
