Event overview
The Grindleford Gallop is scheduled for Saturday 14 March 2026 at Grindleford Pavilion (S32 2JN). The event covers approximately 34 km with about 825 m of ascent. It links the villages of Grindleford, Froggatt, Eyam, Great Longstone, Edensor and Baslow using paths, tracks and open moorland. The route passes landmarks such as Riley Graves, Longstone Moor, the Monsal Trail and Chatsworth Park estate, and the final high-level section follows the Baslow, Curbar and Froggatt edges with views of the Peak District.
The race is a fundraiser for Grindleford Primary School and is organised entirely by volunteers. At the time of the listing the event is full. The minimum entry age is 16 and the entry fee listed is £27.00. Entries opened on 11 November 2025 and closed on 13 March 2026.
Course, safety and entry rules
The course is a fixed route and no short cuts are allowed. Important interchanges are marshalled and most control points are manned, but other sections are only partially marked. Some parts cannot be waymarked due to landowner restrictions. Participants are advised to be familiar with the course and to carry a map; use of GPS devices or a watch route map is permitted. The event does not allow transfers and has a refund cutoff two months before the event with a 50% refund policy, with limited exceptions.
