Hayfield Chicken Run
The Chicken Run is a fell race held in the Hayfield area. Participants can choose between two different route options depending on their preference:
- 8.6 miles (1480 feet of ascent)
- 10 km (Short course)
The event is staged from Hayfield Primary School, where facilities such as toilets, cakes, and refreshments are available for attendees. The race is open to runners aged 18 years and over.
The event permits both online pre-registration and entry on the day, provided that places remain available. A specific entry fee is required for participation, with a small discount typically applied to those who register in advance.
The course and the school grounds have a strict policy regarding animals; no dogs are allowed at the venue or on the race route. Participants are encouraged to car share when possible, as free parking is located in the vicinity of the school. The event is also part of the Hayfield Championship, a series requiring runners to complete multiple local fell races of varying lengths to qualify for the final standings.
