Greenvale Vineyards Wine Run 5k
The Greenvale Vineyards Wine Run 5k is an annual event held at a sixth-generation farm in Portsmouth, Rhode Island. The course follows the perimeter of the vineyard along the Sakonnet River, featuring views of the agricultural landscape. Participants should expect some areas of uneven footing throughout the route. The event is open to runners and walkers, including those with strollers or leashed dogs.
Participants can choose from the following event options:
- 5k
- Volunteer and Run
The race is professionally chip-timed and scored by J3 Timing, with results posted online after the event. Registered participants receive a super soft cotton T-shirt, a shatterproof collapsible wine glass, and a finisher medal that also functions as a wine stopper. Registration also includes a pour of wine for participants of legal age; however, minors are permitted to join at a discounted rate and will receive the shirt, medal, and bib without the wine-related items.
Awards are provided for the top three finishers in several ten-year age categories, ranging from 19 and under to 80 and over. The event takes place rain or shine at Greenvale Vineyards. For those unable to attend in person, a virtual participation option is available. The local charity partner for this event is the Aquidneck Land Trust, an organization dedicated to preserving open spaces on Aquidneck Island.
