Greenvale Vineyards Wine Run 5k
This event is a chip timed 5k run and walk held at Greenvale Vineyards in Portsmouth, RI. Registration includes a super soft ring spun cotton T shirt, a shatterproof collapsible wine glass, a finisher medal, a chip timed race bib, posted online results, and a pour of wine for eligible participants.
The course features uneven footing and offers scenic views. It is described as suitable for both runners and walkers. A course map is provided by the organizer.
Age group awards are given to the top three finishers in each category. The age categories are 19 & Under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, and 80 & Over. Competitive runners must start with the first group to be eligible for age group awards. Age group medals are available for pickup one hour after the first wave and are available only on the day of the event.
The event lists Aquidneck Land Trust as its local charity partner. Aquidneck Land Trust states a mission to preserve and steward Aquidneck Island’s open spaces, reports over 1,300 members, and notes it has conserved 2,815.90 acres across 99 properties, representing about 11.5 percent of the island.
Practical notes provided by the organizer: minors may participate with a discounted registration that includes a shirt, medal and bib but not a wine glass or wine pour; strollers are allowed but not recommended because of uneven ground and children in strollers may participate free without registration; dogs are not allowed due to USDA restrictions at the farm site.
