The Great Whernside Fell Race, organized by Wharfedale Harriers, is a challenging 4-mile race with a 1,558 ft ascent. It starts from Scabbate Gate in Kettlewell, ascending through fields and rough terrain to the summit of Great Whernside before returning to the start. The course features a mix of grassy tracks, rocky scrambles, peat bogs, and steep climbs, offering a demanding and scenic fell running experience.

Juniors run a shorter route, turning before the summit. The event is known for its rugged terrain and beautiful Yorkshire Dales setting, attracting senior runners aged over 16. Parking is provided nearby with no charge. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
