Great Balloon Chase
The Great Balloon Chase takes place in Albuquerque, New Mexico, offering participants a race experience set against the backdrop of the Sandia Mountains and the Rio Grande River Valley. This event is held during the world’s largest ballooning event, allowing runners to view hot air balloons in the sky during the competition, although their presence is subject to local weather conditions.
The race marks its 10th anniversary with this edition. Participants can choose between three different distances:
- Half Marathon (13.1 Miles)
- 10K Run
- 5K Run/Walk
The course is located along the Los Poblanos Field Trail, showcasing the natural landscapes of the region. Registration includes a finisher's medal for those who complete their respective courses. Additionally, the first 1,000 people to register for the event receive a commemorative jacket.
The event is organized independently and is not affiliated with other hot air balloon festivals. Registration remains open until the event reaches its capacity or until the specified closing date in late July.
