Grand Ridge Trail Run
This event is the final race of the Evergreen trail-running season and is held at Grand Ridge Park in the Cascade foothills near Issaquah, Washington. Multiple distance options are offered.
- 5 Mile
- Half Marathon
- Full Marathon
- 50K
The park contains miles of connected trails developed by the Washington Trails Association. Trails run through deep, wet forests with fields of ferns and mossy trees that display fall colors. The course uses graded trails but includes rocky, technical switchbacks and sustained climbing.
The course layout uses two distinct loops. One loop serves the 5 Mile race and a longer loop serves the Half Marathon distances. Marathon runners complete two half-marathon loops. 50K runners complete two half-marathon loops plus one 5 Mile loop. All distances begin at the Highpoint Way Trailhead and follow the Issaquah-Preston Trail for 0.5 miles before the climb. The half-marathon loop is closer to 14 miles than 13 miles. The route includes a detour on the Flowing Fir Trail and passes the Duthie aid station. Trails remain open to other users including pedestrians and cyclists.
This is a cupless race; participants should carry a refillable container. Aid stations are stocked with water, Tailwind, Clif products, PBJ sandwiches, fruit, cookies, crackers and pretzels. Approximate elevation gain for each distance is 1200 ft for 5 Mile, 2200 ft for Half, 4400 ft for Full, and 5600 ft for 50K.
The start and finish are at the Grand Ridge trailhead, 27000 SE 79th St, Issaquah, WA. Packet pickup options and a kids race on a 1.1 mile crushed gravel course are part of the event. Finishers receive handmade finisher swag produced using solar power. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
