Grand Ridge Trail Run
The Grand Ridge Trail Run serves as the final event of the Evergreen trail-running season. Held in Grand Ridge Park within the Cascade foothills, the course takes runners through dense forests characterized by ferns, mossy trees, and autumn foliage. The trails are located on the indigenous land of the Coast Salish peoples.
Participants can choose from several distance options:
- 5 Mile
- Half Marathon (approximately 14 miles)
- Full Marathon
- 50K
- 1.1 Mile (Kid’s race)
The course layout utilizes two primary loops. The 5 Mile run follows a single loop, while the longer distances use a larger loop of approximately 14 miles. Marathon runners complete two of these larger loops. The 50K participants complete two of the larger loops followed by the 5-mile loop. All races begin at the Highpoint Way Trailhead, starting with a half-mile stretch on the Issaquah-Preston Trail before ascending via technical switchbacks. While the trails are graded, the routes include significant elevation gain, with the 50K reaching 5,600 feet.
This is a cupless event, meaning participants must carry their own refillable water containers. Aid stations provide water, hydration drinks, and various snacks such as fruit, cookies, and sandwiches. Finishers receive handmade awards produced using solar power. Post-race hot soup is provided at the finish line located at the Grand Ridge Trailhead. Parking is available at the trailhead lot, along SE 79th St, or at the nearby I-90 Church lot.
