About the race
The Cascade Express event offers two point-to-point road and trail races along the Palouse to Cascades Trail near North Bend, Washington. The courses run primarily on gravel trail with views of the Cascade Mountains and include a section along Keechelus Lake for the marathon and a 2.4 mile Snoqualmie Tunnel section on the half marathon.

The marathon course has a smooth, consistent downhill profile with a total downhill of 1,414 ft and a net downhill of 1,247 ft. The half marathon has a net downhill of 800 ft. Both courses are USATF certified (Marathon: WA25021RMB; Half Marathon: WA25023RMB). The event provides chip timing with live results and splits, fully stocked aid stations, shuttle transportation from finish to start, drop bag service, finisher medal and technical race shirt, on-course medical support, and parking near the start. Pacers are available to help runners maintain pacing plans. The point-to-point layout and gradual downhill profile are presented as features that support sustained pacing and the possibility of negative splits during the race.
