Dash for the Beads

Dash for the Beads is an annual Mardi Gras themed event on Davis Street in the Oak Cliff neighborhood of Dallas. It combines a family festival with two running events and supports local youth programs; net proceeds fund grants for Oak Cliff schools and youth non-profits focused on physical fitness, healthy eating, and the arts. The festival includes a Kid Zone, music, food trucks, and adult beverages such as mimosas and craft beer. The start, festival, and finish area are at the intersection of W Davis St and N Clinton Ave, by the Kessler Theater, and the event runs back to back with the Go Oak Cliff Mardi Gras Parade.

The running program includes a chip timed 5K that winds through Kessler Park and returns to the festival area, and a short flat 1 mile fun run near the festival. The 5K route features the King of the Hill climb on Edgefield Ave up to Colorado Blvd, with an award for the fastest climber. The 5K awards medals to the top three male and female finishers in each of nine age groups.
