Golden State Orienteering Champs 2026
The Golden State Orienteering Champs runs Friday, November 6 through Sunday, November 8, 2026, in the Fresno area. This is the third edition of the event. Fresno is described as roughly equidistant from the Bay Area and Los Angeles.
The weekend includes three race days. Scoring uses each competitor's best two of the three races. The series continues the practice of using three new maps to limit terrain familiarity. The event is open to participants from any region; to score as an individual or for Northern California or Southern California, participants must hold membership in one of the listed clubs: BAOC, GCO, LAOC, Nav-X, SDO, or Truckee. The OrienteeringUSA registration system assigns courses based on the class chosen; the White and Blue classes are replaced by Yellow and Red.
Registration is open and closes on November 4 at 11:59 P.M. A lower fee applies for registrations completed by October 25. Published pricing options include a four event package, per-event fees, and a Saturday package that covers the Middle race plus Trail-O. Trail-O is offered as a non-ranking event. Volunteer credit discounts reduce entry fees by set amounts per hour of service and those who register using volunteer credits will be contacted about assignments. Those who registered before October 2 for the weekend package or the Middle race will be contacted about adding Trail-O.
Group camping is available for Friday and Saturday nights at Eastman Lake Codorniz Recreation Area Group Campground South. The weekend camping fee is $25 per vehicle. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
