Golden Grizzlies Festival of Races
The Golden Grizzlies Festival of Races is a campus running event on 09/27/2026 at the Recreation and Athletic Outdoor Complex, Elaine Leigh Track and Field Complex, Oakland University, 6000 Meadow Brook Rd, Rochester MI 48309. The event includes multiple races for different age groups and formats and supports the Oakland University Cross Country and Track and Field programs.
Distances offered include:
- 400 m kids run
- 5 km (3.1 miles) run/walk
- 10 km (6.2 miles) run
Each finisher of the 5 km and 10 km receives a race t-shirt and a medal. Kids run participants receive a finisher ribbon and the kids race is free of charge. The 2026 medals feature Meadowbrook Hall as part of the event medal series.
Packet pickup is available on race morning only at the race site. Post-run activities include sponsor tents, music, and a Rootless Coffee truck on site. Awards include gift certificates for top finishers in multiple categories at both the 5 km and 10 km races, with separate prizes for masters and overall placements.
A student 5 km entry requires an oakland.edu email address and students must be prepared to show student ID on race day. The event also offers corporate and open team scoring for 5 km teams; scoring uses individual age group placings with the top five runners counting toward a team result. A special gold alumni bib is reserved for the first 350 alumni registrants. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
