Events and entry
The Health Hive Golden Grizzlies Festival of Races at Oakland University offers multiple events:
- 5K Run / 5K Walk (entry fee listed as $30)
- 10K Run (entry fee listed as $35)
- Kids Run (open to ages 10 and under; listed as free)
- Student 5K (listed fee $15; only registrations with a student oakland.edu email accepted)
- 5K and 10K race-day registration options without a race shirt (listed fee $35)
Packet pickup is held on race morning at the race site. The first 200 alumni registrants receive a special gold bib. New medals for 2025 feature the Elliot Tower.
Course and location
The event starts and finishes at the Elaine Leigh Track and Field Complex at Oakland University in Rochester Hills. The 5K and 10K follow a looped route through campus, finish with a lap on the track, and pass campus landmarks such as Elliott Tower, Meadow Brook Hall, the Dodge Mansion, Meadowbrook Amphitheatre, and the O’rena. The course includes hilly sections.
Awards, proceeds and teams
Each 5K and 10K finisher receives a race t-shirt and a medal; kids receive a ribbon for finishing one lap. Prize gift certificates are listed for top overall and masters finishers in the 10K and 5K. Proceeds benefit the Oakland University Cross Country and Track & Field programs. A 5K team competition is offered for corporate, open, and university department teams, scored using the top five runners per team. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
