Golden Grizzlies Festival of Races
The Golden Grizzlies Festival of Races is held at Oakland University’s Recreation and Athletic Outdoor Complex, the Elaine Leigh Track and Field Complex in Rochester, Michigan. The event features multiple running events, post-run activities, and awards; proceeds benefit the Oakland University Cross Country and Track and Field programs.
Event highlights include:
- 5k run/walk, 3.1 miles, registration fee $30
- 10k run, 6.2 miles, registration fee $35
- Kids Run, 400 m, ages 10 and under, free
- Student 5k, 3.1 miles, oakland.edu email required, fee $15
- Race day registration for 5k and 10k, fee $35
Packet pickup is available on race morning only and is held at the race site. Each finisher of the 5k and 10k receives a race t-shirt and a medal; kids receive a finisher ribbon for the track lap. A new medal series for 2026 features the Elliot Tower as the first design.
Hansons Running Shop will award gift certificates to top finishers in the 5k and 10k categories, with specified prizes for overall and masters places. A 5k team race is offered for Corporate, Open, and Oakland University department teams; scoring uses the top five runners and first place teams will be recognized. The first 350 alumni registrants receive a special gold race bib. Post-run offerings include sponsor tents, music, and a coffee truck. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
