Event Overview
The Gobble Gallop is a seasonal running event hosted at the Hendricks Regional Health YMCA in Avon, Indiana. Taking place on Thanksgiving morning, the event serves as the primary fundraiser for the YMCA Annual Campaign. The funds collected support financial assistance for health, fitness, and education programs, providing opportunities for community members to access preschool, swim lessons, and youth sports leagues.
Participants can choose from multiple formats and distances to accommodate different preferences:
- 5K Run (In-Person): A 3.1 mile race held on-site at the Hendricks Regional Health YMCA.
- 5K Run (Virtual): A 3.1 mile race that can be completed anytime during November on a personal course or the official course via a mobile application.
- 10K Run (Virtual): A 6.2 mile challenge comprising two 5K distances to be completed during the month of November.
The in-person race utilizes the grounds of the YMCA facility. In circumstances where an in-person gathering is not possible, participants are transitioned to the virtual category. The virtual options allow for flexibility, utilizing the official course through the RaceJoy app or any location of the participant's choosing.
