Event Overview

The GOAT Run, also known as the Great Olympic Adventure Trail Run, takes place on the North Olympic Peninsula in Washington State. The course traverses Kelly Ridge, situated between the Olympic National Park and the Strait of Juan de Fuca. The event follows the Olympic Adventure Trail and concludes at the Log Cabin Resort on the shores of Lake Crescent.

Participants can choose from three primary distances:

• Half Marathon: Approximately 13.6 miles with 1,500 feet of elevation gain.
• Marathon: Approximately 25.5 miles with 3,500 feet of elevation gain.
• 50K: Approximately 30.25 miles with 3,700 feet of elevation gain.

Course Details

The routes consist primarily of single-track trail and unpaved forest roads, with less than one mile of pavement near the finish line. The half marathon features 8.5 miles of single-track, while the marathon includes 21 miles and the 50K includes 20 miles of single-track. The highest point on the course reaches an elevation of 1,619 feet.

This is a cupless event, meaning participants must carry their own hydration vessels. Water and electrolyte stations are positioned at various intervals along the routes, ranging from three stations for the half marathon to eight stations for the 50K. Sanicans are located at the start and finish lines but are not available along the trails.

Logistics

A mandatory shuttle service transports runners from Joyce, Washington, to the race starts. Participation is limited to 115 runners per distance category. The event utilizes chip timing, and the finish line area includes a post-race gathering for participants at the lakefront.
