GOAT Run - Port Angeles, WA
GOAT Run is a point-to-point trail race on the Olympic Adventure Trail with three distance options that traverse Kelly Ridge and finish at Lake Crescent inside Olympic National Park. The event highlights forested singletrack, unpaved forest roads, and a short section of pavement to the finish at Log Cabin Resort.
Race distances include:
- Half marathon: around 14 miles with about 1500 feet of elevation gain.
- Marathon: just under 26 miles with about 3500 feet of elevation gain.
- 50K: slightly shorter than the official distance with mixed trail and road segments.
Aid stations provide water, electrolyte drink, and snacks; some stations include fresh fruit and sponsored bars. The event operates cupless; runners may carry their own hydration or use a provided reusable cup. Participant fields are limited for each distance and some distances have time limits.
Logistics notes: a mandatory shuttle transports runners from the start area and return shuttles run approximately every 20 minutes from the finish. Packet pickup occurs at a local brewery and at the start area the morning of the event. The trail remains open to the public during the race; runners may encounter bikes, horses, and hikers. Headphones and dogs are not allowed. Awards are given to the first overall male, female, and non binary finishers; there are no age category awards or finisher medals.
