GOAT Run - Port Angeles, WA
GOAT Run is a point to point trail race on the Olympic Adventure Trail that offers a half marathon, marathon, and 50K. The courses traverse Kelly Ridge between Olympic National Park and the Strait of Juan de Fuca, finishing at Lake Crescent inside Olympic National Park.
Distances
- Half Marathon: about 14 miles, ~1500 ft elevation gain.
- Marathon: just under 26 miles, ~3500 ft elevation gain.
- 50K: slightly shorter than the official 50K, ~3700 ft elevation gain.
The route follows single-track trail for the majority of each course, with segments of unpaved forest road and under a mile of pavement to the finish at Log Cabin Resort on Lake Crescent. Aid stations supply water, electrolyte drink, and snacks at specified mile markers on each course. Sanitary facilities are provided at the start and finish and at selected locations on course.
Logistics listed for the event include mandatory start shuttles from a designated parking area, chip timing, and post-race food and drinks at the finish venue. The event operates a cupless policy; runners are expected to carry personal hydration or use a provided reusable cup. During the race the trail remains open to the public, so participants may encounter bikers, horses, and hikers. Headphones are not allowed. A portion of proceeds is donated to local trail organizations. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
