About the race
The Glen Rosa Horseshoe is a challenging Category AL Scottish hill race held on the Isle of Arran, starting from Brodick Castle Rangers Centre. Covering 20km with a total ascent of 1670m, the race features a clockwise loop over four summits in Glen Rosa, mostly unmarked and running over heather and granite. Competitors must be experienced in navigation and hill running, as the course includes checkpoints and cut-off times but requires self-navigation, especially in poor weather.
The event, revived in 2025 after a hiatus, emphasizes safety with mandatory kit including map and compass. Awards include trophies and medals across various categories, with local sponsorship supporting the race. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
