Isle of Arran (Shiskine Valley) Half Marathon
The event is a half marathon held on 28 June 2026 with registration, start and finish at Blackwaterfoot Playing Field on the Isle of Arran. It is organised jointly by Arran Runners and Shiskine Valley Improvements and is open to competitors aged 17 years or older on the event date. Entries open on 4 March 2026 and close on 22 June 2026. Entry fees are listed as £20 for Scottish Athletics members and £22 for non members; the entry list shows 42 participants so far.
The course is a road race that remains open to traffic; for safety reasons headphones are not permitted. The route is marked at every mile and includes at least five water stations. Medical cover is provided by ABC Arran. Timekeeping will be carried out by ProTay. Trophies are awarded to the first male and first female finishers and awards are also presented in the categories SM, SW, First Island Resident and First Team of 3.
The playing field is in the centre of Blackwaterfoot and has a public toilet; competitors may leave bags securely on the field. There are no changing or shower facilities at the playing field, although limited facilities may be available from the Kinloch Hotel for a small charge and subject to the hotel managements agreement. Travel by ferry and local bus services is commonly used by competitors and advance booking for transport is recommended. No refunds are given for this community run event.
