Isle of Arran (Shiskine Valley) Half Marathon
The event is a community organised half marathon held on the Isle of Arran with registration, start and finish at Blackwaterfoot Playing Field. It is open to runners aged 17 years or older and is described as suitable for runners of all standards.
The course is a road race and is not closed to traffic. It is marked at every mile and includes at least five water stations. Headphones are not permitted for safety. Medical cover is provided by ABC Arran and timekeeping will be carried out by ProTay. Bags can be left securely on the playing field and a public toilet is available in Blackwaterfoot.
Trophies are awarded to the first male and female athletes and awards are also presented in the following categories: SM, SW, First Island Resident, First Team of 3. The event is organised jointly by Arran Runners and Shiskine Valley Improvements. There are no refunds for entries.
Travel options include public ferries to Brodick and a local bus service between Brodick and Blackwaterfoot. Changing or showering facilities are not provided at the playing field; limited facilities may be available at Kinloch Hotel for a small charge on advance enquiry.
