Isle of Arran (Shiskine Valley) Half Marathon

The Isle of Arran (Shiskine Valley) Half Marathon is a road running event organized jointly by Arran Runners and Shiskine Valley Improvements. The course takes place on the Isle of Arran, starting and finishing at the Blackwaterfoot Playing Field in the center of the village. The route is marked at every mile and remains open to public traffic throughout the event.

Available distances:

  • 21.1 km

Participants must be at least 17 years old on the day of the race. The event provides at least five water stations along the course and medical cover is managed by ABC Arran. Because the roads are not closed to vehicles, the use of headphones is prohibited for safety reasons.

The venue at Blackwaterfoot Playing Field includes space for secure bag storage and access to public toilets. There are no changing or showering facilities provided on-site. Participants traveling from the mainland can utilize ferry services from Ardrossan or Troon to Brodick. A local service bus connects the Brodick ferry terminal to the event location in Blackwaterfoot, and the bus accepts contactless payments.

Trophies are awarded to the first male and female finishers. Additional awards are presented in several categories, including Senior Men, Senior Women, First Island Resident, and the first team of three. Registration and professional timekeeping are conducted on the field prior to the start. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
