Route, checkpoints and rules
The route runs from Killin to Strathyre and back, passing the Falls of Dochert, the Glen Ogle Viaduct, Balquidder and the Shoogly Bridge. The halfway checkpoint is at Strathyre Picnic Area, where runners may leave a drop bag. Water stations and first aid checkpoints are located at approximately 0, 5, 10, 16, 25, and 29 miles, with the finish back in Killin. The course is marked with yellow/black directional arrows, eco friendly marker paint and blue cycle route markers.
There are three road crossings on the route that are controlled by race marshals; runners must follow marshal instructions and remove earphones when approaching crossings and on specified road sections. Mandatory kit must be carried by each runner; the organiser lists items including a full-size foil blanket, a working mobile phone (with race control number), trail food, means to carry water and a small first aid kit. Recommended items include waterproofs, hat and gloves and extra layers. A cut-off at the last checkpoint on Glen Ogle will be enforced; runners not meeting cut-off criteria may be removed from the race. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
