Simon Wake Comrie Hills Relay
The Simon Wake Comrie Hills Relay is a team hill running event held in and around Comrie village, following a route on either side of Glen Lednock. The course covers 43 km with 1,733 m of ascent and is organised as four stages that start and finish in Comrie.
Course and legs are varied. Legs 2 and 3 traverse rough mountain terrain while Legs 1 and 4 are closer to trail running. Leg 1 is fully waymarked and Leg 4 is partially marked. A short section of Leg 3 across featureless moorland prior to CP6 will be marked to reduce navigation risk.
Team format and championships are changing for 2026. The race is part of the inaugural Scottish Hill Runners Relay Championships and the 2026 event is scheduled for Saturday 29 August. Teams consist of five runners, with a pair running Leg 2 together under the 2026 format.
Prizes are awarded to winning teams in open and women categories, the first mixed team (teams must include two or three women), first Open V40 and Female V40 teams, and individual leg winners in open and female classes. A raffle with £1 tickets sold on race day is organised to raise funds.
The event is dedicated to the memory of Simon Wake. Surplus proceeds from 2025 onward will support junior hill running in Scotland, split between Scottish Athletics junior hill running initiatives and Strathearn Harriers junior activities. The organisers acknowledge local sponsors and landowners who permit use of the routes. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
