Glen Lyon Trail Race
The Glen Lyon Trail Race takes place at Loch Lyon in remote Glen Lyon, Perthshire. The event on 7th June 2026 covers 15.5 miles with approximately 1,500 ft of ascent. The route is 100% off road and follows a loop of Loch Lyon with around six river crossings. Shortly after the start there is a steep climb, followed by an undulating course for roughly fourteen miles, finishing at Glen Lyon Dam. A water station is located at about eight miles. The published entry fee is £36/38.
Course, logistics and entry
Camping is available on the Saturday night at Glen Lyon Dam; runners toilets are provided and open fires are not allowed. On arrival participants will be directed to parking at the front of the dam and must follow marshal instructions; the access road is single track. There are no specific entry qualifications, but entrants should be confident of running over 15 miles with elevation. The race fee includes a race memento and a goody bag; a technical race t-shirt is an optional extra.
Mandatory kit to be carried includes a foil blanket, water container, food/energy snacks, a working mobile phone with race control number entered, a small first aid kit and a race vest to hold these items. Recommended items include waterproofs, warm layers, hat, gloves, sunglasses, a folding cup and a change of clothes. The event rules include ID at registration, no transfer of places, no dogs, no walking poles, no support runners, following marshal and medical instructions, and no littering.
