Event details

The Glen Lyon Trail Race takes place on 7 June 2026 at Loch Lyon, Glen Lyon, Perthshire (PH15 2PX). The event is a 15.5 mile off-road foot race with approximately 1,500 ft of ascent. Course and facilities

The route is 100% off road and follows a loop of Loch Lyon. The course includes around six river crossings. Runners face a steep climb soon after the start, then an undulating profile for most of the route, finishing back at Glen Lyon Dam. There is a water station at about 8 miles. Camping is available on the Saturday night at Glen Lyon Dam, where runners toilets are provided; no open fires are allowed.

Entry, kit and rules

There are no specific entry qualifications; entrants should be confident of running the race distance and elevation. The organiser requires mandatory kit to be carried during the event; items listed include a foil blanket, water bottle or bladder, food, a working mobile phone with the race control number entered, a small first aid kit, and a race vest. Other rules include no transfer of places, no muling, no walking poles, no dogs, and a ban on ibuprofen during the event.
