Hidden Glen 10K

Hidden Glen 10K takes place at Monachyle Mhor Hotel, Balquhidder. The course follows the banks of Loch Doine and runs into Monachyle Glen. The event was voted Best 10K in Scotland and 3rd Best in the UK in 2020.

Distances:

  • 10 km
  • 1 km fun run

The route surface is tarmac for the first 2 km and trail thereafter. Some trail sections can be muddy or puddly; trail shoes are recommended. The route is fully marked with large yellow signs and supported by marshals and medical staff. There are three water stops on the 10 km route at 3, 6 and 8.5 km.

Entry fees are listed as £27 for the 10 km and £7 for the fun run. The entry fee includes a medal, water at the finish, electronic chip timing, medical provision across the route, access to event photos, race hydration from Active Root, parking close to the start and professional event organisation. Chip timing uses integrated race numbers and timing chips; timing chips are posted to entrants before the event and lost or forgotten numbers can be replaced on the day for a fee of £2.

Eligibility and prizes: the 10 km is open to those aged 15 and over. The 1 km fun run is for ages 5 and over; under 5s may run with adult supervision. There are four gender entry categories: male, female, non-binary and other. Top three prizes in each gender category require a minimum of five participants in that category. Age group first-place prizes require a minimum of three participants in that gender age category, with standard age bands from Junior (15-17) to Vintage Veteran (60+). The 1 km fun run awards first boy and girl in the under 15 category.

Facilities include toilets, changing tents, first aid at an event hub and on the route, car parking in nearby fields, and hot and cold food and drinks. Parking access involves a narrow, winding road and marshals will direct vehicles; parking is not suitable for low cars, motorhomes or caravans.

Deferral, transfer and refund policy: deferrals are allowed up to one month before the event and must be used the following year. Transfers are permitted up to one week before the event. Refunds can be requested up to one month before the event and are subject to a 10% administration fee. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
